Manufacturing Speaker Insert

The First step in the manufacturing of the speaker inserts was to fix a piece of Jelutong large enough to the wood turning lathe. The next step was to turn out the desired moulds on the lathe and removing them from the lathe.
Once the moulds were formed they were simply placed in the vacuum former and a sheet of 0.5 mm acrylic was heated up and vacuumed around the moulds. The moulds were simply pulled out of the plastic to leave the speaker inserts which had to be cut out of the excess acrylic and sanded back to a smooth finish.
The speaker inserts were then tested to make sure they could hold the speakers without allowing them to fall though the whole which had been previously drilled out with a forstner bit. The speaker inserts would not be sprayed as the desired finish was a matte white finish.
