Final Speaker Sketches

This page depicts three strong contenders for the speaker project. It includes sketches and rendered sketches, through use of marker pens.

The above images portray the box, in a box, on a box concept which was explored earlier in the initial sketches. This concept appealed to me because it portrays an adventurous and exciting speaker project. It allows for storage also in the form of shelving. Although an appealing design I wanted to escape the realm of straight lines and corners and venture into manufacturing a product which has curves and no corners.

This image leans more towards the area in which I wanted to explore. It incorporates a little nature in that it replicates the branches of a tree, this may appeal to and excite some consumers due to the extravagant curvature which is evident. This however does not serve well for the speakers as the back of this structure would need to be quite wide to allow room for the speakers to generate sound reflection. A wide back in my opinion does not suit the design as it needs to be sleek and slim to achieve the desired look.
I have chosen the above design to use in the speaker project as it allows enough room to the rear of the speaker to generate an adequate amount of sound. As you can see this design stemmed from that of a desk lamp and the green speaker on the top left corner of the collage in the tab entitled existing speakers.
This design allows the top speaker to rotate so should it be required to cater for a small gathering the speakers can be rotated to get the sound to travel in two directions.

Below is the model which was made from blue styrofoam prior to drawing on Creo. This was very informative as it gave me a rough estimation as to the size and scale of the product which I wanted to achieve at a minimal cost.
