My MP3 Amplifier

Welcome to my blog, which illustrates the manufacturing process of an MP3 Amplifier. This blog outlines the whole project, from my interpretation of the brief through design inspirations, 3d modelling and the manufacturing process of the speakers themselves.

"Your task is to design and manufacture a prototype product in response to this context that incorporates the given amplifier circuit. CAD/CAM should play a significant role in the development and manufacture of your prototype.
As a starting point, consider that the product has been commissioned to be part of the standard room facilities in a nationwide chain of 'Design hotels', where the emphasis is on contemporary style. "

The image and video above depicts the final outcome which has been achieved. The aim of this design was to incorporate a modern twist while also hinting at a retro shape. I feel that the contrast in materials from oak to acrylic has evoked the theme which I was looking for. As the brief states that this speaker is to be part of the standard room facilities in a nationwide chain of 'Design hotels' I feel the oak arouses a feeling of warmth, welcoming which is what a hotel stayer would appreciate. The acylic adds the modern/retro feel which is complemented by the curved lines of the oak shell.
